Great company, some of the best fire starter options....
I bought this Ferrocerium rod to carry in my Benchmade Bushcrafter 162 knife sheath. It works very well and it fits my sheath well enough however I keep the rod’s lanyard snapped to the sheaths snap closure to assure it doesn’t come out or get lost from the sheath during carry. Be sure to remove the black coating from the rod before use in order to expose the rod for effective strikes anywhere on the rod. I used 220 grit sandpaper and getting good sparks and strikes was very quick and easy.
this fire steel pretty much checks all the boxes.
the size, dia x length is very practical you could get nearly a lifetime of fires from this.
it has a sealed compartment for holding tinder or other things.
I will replace the lanyard to include a scraper, I bought a bag of em for this however if you want this for everyday in your pocket then you would just use your knife so the no scraper concept is not new.
I bought this to go with my benchmade puukko knife and it works great but I just wish it was a little cheaper. Otherwise it's a perfect fit.
Throws sparks well and us small enough for picket carry.
